Before taking your business idea to Montenegro

Do not think of forming a company in Montenegro as only a registration checklist. How the business earns revenue, its daily operations and its responsibilities after formation are parts of the same plan. Preparing the following information before your first meeting makes quotations easier to compare.

1. Define your activity clearly

What product or service will you offer, to whom and through which channel? Explain whether you need premises, staff or a sector-specific permit in Montenegro. Company registration and permission for a particular activity are not the same thing.

2. Plan ownership and the business address

Note the partners, their responsibilities and the company address. Confirm the required form of identity and company documents, including translations or certification, for your file. Do not assume someone else’s checklist is complete for you.

3. Separate formation costs from recurring expenses

Ask what a quotation covers rather than looking only at the total. Consultancy, official fees, notaries, translations, addresses or offices and monthly accounting are separate items. Staffing and additional activities can change the assessment. There is therefore no single formation cost here that applies to everyone.

• What will be delivered under formation consultancy?
• Which third-party costs are paid separately?
• Who follows accounting and documents after formation?
• How will the price of additional work be approved?

4. Assess your personal residence plans separately

Explain both your formation goals and plans to live or work in Montenegro. Company registration does not mean automatic approval of personal residence or work permits. The purpose of the application and current conditions are assessed separately.

Your activity, partners, target customers, address needs, budget items and questions make a useful one-page starting point. Do not attach identity or bank documents to public contact forms; agree a file-sharing method with our team.
